The mobile recharge sector in India has transformed dramatically over the past decade. With the rise of smartphones and digital connectivity, traditional recharge methods have given way to more efficient, digital solutions. This shift has opened up vast opportunities and challenges for companies in the sector.

Founded in 2010 by Anannya Datta, JRI Technologies has emerged as a significant player in this sector. It quickly gained traction with its platform JustRechargeIt.com, which registered three million users in a short span. However, recognizing the challenges of a B2C model, the company pivoted to a B2B approach, offering API and white-label services for mobile and DTH recharges.

In this journey, Anannya was joined by Prateek Samar, a close friend and the current Chief Business Officer (CBO) at JRI. Prateek’s strategic impact has been instrumental in making JRI Technologies stand out in the competitive market and transforming it into a successful brand.

Prateek, who hails from Udaipur, the serene city of lakes, remains deeply connected to his roots, which continue to provide him with peace of mind. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Engineering (BE), a qualification that keeps his mind active and helps him think through multiple logical patterns.

After completing his education, Prateek pursued his MBA from WLC, UK, before beginning his career at Avenues India Pvt Ltd (now Infibeam Avenues), where he honed his skills in business development and strategic management.

In 2012, encouraged by Anannya and Mr. Vishwas Patel, he joined JRI Technologies.

His multifaceted role as CBO involves overseeing business operations, coordinating between departments, managing budgets, and ensuring the execution of strategies

His focus on aligning business strategies with market opportunities and driving growth through effective business development and partnerships has been crucial for JRI Technologies. He uses traditional methodologies like SWOT analysis and collaborates closely with his team to ensure successful implementation. Actively participating in industry events, maintaining regular communication with clients and partners, and joining relevant associations, he believes in building strong business relationships to drive JRI Technologies’ growth.

The mobile recharge market in India presents significant opportunities and challenges. With a growing demand for mobile handsets and rising tariffs, the market’s potential is substantial. However, managing server costs and infrastructure remains a critical challenge. Prateek’s strategic planning addresses these issues by focusing on maintaining robust server infrastructure and ensuring high availability.

Anannya describes Prateek’s leadership style as being built on the pillars of smart work, ethics, trust, and teamwork.

“Prateek fosters a high-performance culture by creating a supportive work environment and engaging with employees,” she says.

The core team at JRI, including Sagar Patil, AVP Accounts, and Bosco Noronha, AVP Customer Relations, has maintained a strong focus on the company’s core business of recharge services. This focus has enabled JRI to capitalize on market opportunities and drive sustained revenue growth, leading to accolades like the “Pay Excellence Champion 2023” Award organized by TechCircleIndia and recognition for excellence in E-Commerce payment solutions at the “ET Inspiring Women Leader 2024.”

Looking to the future, Prateek envisions JRI Technologies continuing to innovate and adapt to market changes. The company’s successful shift from a B2C to a B2B model has positioned it as a key player in the industry. Ongoing focus on client needs and technological advancements will drive future success.

In his professional journey, Prateek is motivated by self-targets, confidence, and a passion for travel and food, which keep him energized and creative. His advice for aspiring leaders includes believing in oneself, understanding the market, and learning from mistakes. Balancing work and personal life, Prateek maintains boundaries between his professional and personal commitments, ensuring a healthy and fulfilling life.

Through strategic leadership and relentless innovation, Prateek Samar has significantly impacted JRI Technologies, helping the company navigate the challenges of the mobile recharge industry and achieve remarkable success.
